1st annual Charlotte Venture Challenge Pitch Day on December 6th from 5pm to 8pm at UNC Charlotte.

The event will feature 3 minute pitches on innovative new technologies from UNC Charlotte Students (PH.D & MS), UNC Charlotte Faculty and Researchers and members of the Inventors Network of the Carolinas.  The top pitches will be awarded cash prizes by a judging panel made up of innovation executives at Belk, Lowes, Husqvarna, Flextronics, Electrolux and others. We will gather for a reception and awards ceremony following the presentations.

The Pitch Day competition is the lead into the Charlotte Venture Challenge Start-up competition which has taken place every Spring for the last 12 years. The 2012 Charlotte Venture Challenge kicked off last January and culminated in April with a gala Finals event that attracted 300+ people to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The 117 applicants came from the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Virginia to compete for $113,500 in prizes. The competition began with a series of five educational workshops followed by four selection rounds that engaged 120 volunteer judges. Each round yielded feedback to participants enabling them to improve or end their business idea. The 18 finalists received personalized guidance from 62 mentors.
