The Charlotte Venture Challenge business innovation competition is accepting applications from early-stage entrepreneurial companies until Friday, March 1, 2013. The grand prize winner will receive $25,000 and there will be substantial prizes in each competition category.
Winning companies will be chosen in six categories: 1) New Energy & High Tech, 2) IT & Informatics, 3) Life & Biotech Sciences, 4) Consumer Products & Services, 5) Undergrad Student Ventures and 6) Graduate Student Ventures. Winners will be selected by business leaders including the region’s most successful entrepreneurs, angel investors, and venture capitalists.
Participants will submit opportunity assessments, receive mentoring and connect with other entrepreneurs and investors. Workshops are underway to provide valuable guidance to participants.
The high-stakes finals and awards will be on May 1 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
The Charlotte Venture Challenge is the region’s premier business competition for startup and early stage ventures. Over 100 promising companies entered last year’s competition. Previous winners have gone on to win NC Idea and PowerUp awards, and investments from angel and venture capital investors.
If you know of an early stage venture in the Carolinas, D.C., Georgia, Tennessee or Virginia, please encourage them to consider participating.
